Veronica Marie Wood

Veronica Wood, aka Ronnie Wood, (86), passed away March 4, 2025 in Rosedale, NY.  Ronnie was born March 6, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY and was the second child to Marie and William Silvestri.  She graduated New Utrecht High School (1955) and worked briefly for Ma Bell as a Comptometer Operator. Ronnie married Thomas Wood, her childhood sweetheart (1956), and together they raised two children, Douglas and Jennifer. The young family, and Ronnie’s parents, moved to Rosedale, NY (1964), where she dedicated her days to caring for her family (and pets) and creating a loving home environment.  Ronnie developed an illness in mid-life, and although it limited her physical abilities, she continued to manage the home life with loving care. In Ronnie’s spare time she enjoyed reading, keeping up with local and world events, decorating, especially at Christmas, and all things nature. Ronnie is remembered most for her love of family, compassion for anyone enduring hardships and her beautiful smile. Ronnie is survived by daughter, Jennifer Wood, sister, Jeanne Weissman, nephew Kurt Weissman, nieces, Jody Pappas and Laura Michaels, and grand nephews and nieces.
